We got talking to a chap on the quay at Kioni who said there had been an earthquake off Nidri on Monday about 4.5 on the Richter scale. We were in Nidri on Monday but didn't hear or feel anything but we were afloat.
We set of from Kioni late morning and popped down the coast to "Big" Vathi about half way down Ithica and moored up on the north quay which is much more sheltered and then went for a swim in a bay just along the coast.
Afterwards we had a stroll into town, the corner where we are moored has lots of typical Greek fishing boats moored up all painted bright white and blue.
The back streets of Vathis are quite small and quaint and there were lots of beautiful shrubs in flower, the one below was a riot of blue.
Vathi on Ithica is called Big Vathi because there is smaller port on Meganissi called Vathi that is usually referred to as Little Vathi.
It was nice to see Gulls, Egrets and Manx Shearwaters in the bay as we sailed out Sunday morning heading back to Paleros for a day of fettling and repairs.
Quite envious of you both now! Have fun XXX
