Saturday 7th June

It might not look like much but the handle in my hand means I can sit on the side and steer in comfort as the tiller is just a bit too far over at times, the blue box on the back is Sam's box to house the stern anchor rope.

We left the bay on Kastos and sailed down to Kastos Harbour to have a look at it then headed back out to open water by which time the wind had kicked up. We ended up putting two reefs in with very little genoa and still hit about 4 -5 knots in about a metre of swell, a really great sail for a while until the wind dropped and we had to motor again.

We spent the night at Little Vathi on Meganissi swapping the sound of Skops Owls going at it like car alarms for a bush full of crickets.

Next morning we were up early to motor across to Nidri on Lefkas as Sam had booked George the electrician to look at the electrics. On the sail over all we saw was the odd Greek fishing boat it still amazes me the lack of bird life compared to the UK. At home I would expect to have seen loads of gulls especially around the ports but the most we usually see are 2-4 at a time and the odd Hooded Crow. The sea just doesn't have the range of fish and big fish I remember seeing as kid on holiday in the Med.

George managed to sort out the shore hook up, great as we don't use it, fixed the VHF again we haven't used it yet. Took out two lights in the saloon we always hit our heads on but was unable to fix the depth sounder or log and told us a piece was missing off the GPS. So we still only have the on/off switch for the engine and a couple of cabin lights.

George was very good though and to be recommended so we took his photo with Sam.

Once George had left we sailed down the Meganissi Channel, hoisting the spinnaker for a while till the wind dropped then made for Sivota where we moored up for the night next to an old mill right next to the quay that still has bits of the workings in the bar.

As you can see another prime location with the bar right next to the boat and even a bench to relax on!

We had a meal in Sivota as that meant we could have a free shower as well, Sam is still amazed at continental washing facilities. I remember he came out laughing the first time he saw a straddler type toilet and tonight he commented on the fact next to the showers were dog pens and they just opened out onto the back streets of Sivota.

We clocked up our 200th mile today arriving in Sivota, not bad going.
